Help With Online Buying
Your Web Browser
A current web browser capable of displaying and processing forms. Browsers that have been tested and are recommended are Netscape 4.0 or newer or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or newer. If you do not have one of these browsers, you will not be able to complete the process without first upgrading your software. Additionally these browsers must utilize 128-bit encryption, which is the highest level of protection possible whenever you use credit cards or make other financial or confidential transactions over the Internet.
Netscape and Microsoft Internet Explorer versions lower than version 4.0 only offer 40-bit encryption. The main difference is that 128-bit encryption provides a significantly greater amount of cryptographic protection than 40-bit encryption. With the increasing computing power of potential criminals, it is becoming more necessary to employ larger security keys. The numbers "128" and "40" bit encryption refer to the size of the key used to encrypt the message. Roughly speaking, 128-bit encryption is 309,485,009,821,345,068,724,781,056 times stronger than 40-bit encryption. Presently, 40-bit encryption is not considered "strong" security in the cryptographic community. However, even taking into account Moore's Law, which states that computing power doubles about every 18 months, 128-bit encryption represents a very strong method of encryption for the foreseeable future.
Michigan e-Store realizes these additional requirements will require some extra time on your part getting your browser set up for 128-bit encryption, however this will ensure all transactions are secure on the Internet.
Your Printer
The printer attached to your computer should be capable of printing graphics. Your typical inkjet or laser printer will print most graphics.
